A few good runs

A nice video compilation of some of the best club rides..

Daisybank dig weekender 2012

Big thanks to all who turned up to repair Daisybank dirt jumps this weekend. It was an epic couple of days of dirt moving and packing in. I still cannot quite believe how much we achieved and how good the summer is going to be riding up there.

Buckholt Wood riding agreement

Last Friday (March 23rd) representatives from Cheltenham & County CC and Bigfoot MBC reached what we considered as a workable riding agreement with Natural England and the forestry manager

Cheltenham & County and Bigfoot MBC hit Ribbesford

With our two clubs having recently collaborated in trying to negotiate the return of mountain biking to Buckholt Woods we furthered this partnership with a superb gravity riding day at the downhill trails near to Ribbesford

Cinema Club

Winter has set in and the trails are all boggy, perfect time to get a hot drink or beer and settle down with some bike films. The films below are all freely available on the web so pull up the sofa and enjoy.

Buckholt Wood riding agreement

WE HAVE AN AGREEMENT...
Last Friday (March 23rd) representatives from Cheltenham & County CC and Bigfoot MBC reached what we considered as a workable riding agreement with Natural England and the forestry manager (representing the landowner) for accessing Buckholt Wood. The attached document provides the details of this agreement including a code of conduct that we request all riders that access this woodland to respect and abide by. The agreement is not a formal signed document but a statement of how the riding community will conduct itself.

Daisybank dig weekender 2012

Firstly a big thanks to all who turned up to repair Daisybank dirt jumps this weekend. It was an epic couple of days of dirt moving and packing in. I still cannot quite believe how much we achieved and how good the summer is going to be riding up there.

First DB jump video of the year

I hope that we will see a few videos from Daisybank dirt jumps this year...

Cheltenham & County and Bigfoot MBC hit Ribbesford

With our two clubs having recently collaborated in trying to negotiate the return of mountain biking to Buckholt Woods we furthered this partnership with a superb gravity riding day at the downhill trails near to Ribbesford (DY12 2TX), just outside Bewdley, Worcestershire on the edge of The Wyre Forest. Bigfoot Chairman Jason Ayres invited me to bring some of our crew along for a joint club day out. Oh yes, this place was a bit special.

Results of MTBers meeting about Cranham

Since the rider consultation meeting at the Royal William last week we have been updating the email list of contacts. Please let me know if you have friends that are not receiving updates and would like to. There were several email addresses given to us at the meeting that we have had trouble reading, sorry.

Cranham Trails Meeting Invitation

Cheltenham & County CC and Bigfoot MBC would like to invite riders to a meeting discussing the future of mountain bike riding within the woodland in the Cranham area

This will be held at 'The Royal William', Cranham on 8th March at 7.30pm

Introducing Megalomania

The word megalomania is derived from the Greek words "μεγαλο": megalo-, meaning large or great, and "μανία": mania, meaning madness, frenzy. It is also an excellent Black Sabbath song (see at the bottom) This is a suitable name for the new track at Bushcombe which is a speed frenzy and large open corners.

Success at Cirencester Duathlon

Congratulations to CCCC member Rachel Vicary who won the ladies category at the Cirencester Duathlon on Sunday, held this year at Charlton Park in Malmesbury.

The race, which attracted 184 competitors, was a day of XC racing with a difference - with competitors fearing a mud fest but instead being faced with snow, ice and absolutely freezing temperatures. The conditions certainly spiced up the (usually non technical!) course; a 2 mile run, 10 mile mountain bike and then another 2 mile run.

Winter training indoors - video

When people talk about winter training indoors it usually means turbo training. A few club members decided that this did not help their skills so with the help of a few cones they set up a skills course indoors.

661 Mini Downhill FoD: Round 2

The second round of the 661 Mini Downhill series was again action packed with around 300 riders and a huge crowd. This time the Corkscrew trail was used for the race with only one new corner at the bottom differing it from  the standard track.

Conditions in the car park started completely frozen (though we did arrive at 8am) but quickly turned to slop as the sun thawed everything. In the woods however it was a completely different situation with the track being damp and consistently grippy all day.

Pump and roll - Updated with pics

Thanks again to everyone who turned up to dig today at Bushcombe.

We started by walking down the track to check for fallen branches, then decided to work on the bottom section to improve the flow and to bring it up to the same standard as the top.

Leckhampton XC Video

I just found this treat from one of out student members. Great inspiration to go out and put a ride together just over Leckhampton.
